How do I connect my ERP to Shopify so stock and prices stay in sync?

You keep an ERP and Shopify in sync by making the ERP the source of truth for stock and price, and pushing changes to Shopify through one audited path rather than letting staff maintain both. Shopify's Admin GraphQL API accepts bulk operations for large catalogues and emits webhooks when inventory moves, so the store can follow the ERP within minutes without anyone re-keying a number.

The failure mode is always the same: two systems that each believe they own the stock figure. Shopify's API is rate limited on a cost-based leaky bucket, so a catalogue push written as one call per variant throttles long before it finishes, and a half-finished push is worse than none. We move catalogues through bulk operations, write inventory one way only, and keep a record of every transfer so a disagreement can be settled by looking rather than guessing.

Questions we get asked

Which system should own stock and pricing?
The ERP, in almost every case. It is where the business already commits to a number. Shopify then displays that number rather than holding a second opinion about it.
How quickly does the store update after the ERP changes?
Minutes for inventory, on a schedule you choose for catalogue and price. Real-time to the second is rarely worth its cost and complexity for stock that moves in whole units.
What happens if the sync fails partway through?
Every transfer is recorded, so a failed run is visible and re-runnable rather than silent. That audit record is the point of routing through a hub instead of a direct link.
Can you do this with an ERP that is not Acumatica?
Yes. The pattern is the same for NetSuite, Dynamics, Sage and others: read the item master and inventory, reconcile, push one way. Only the extraction end changes.
